Wow, yes! This past December I ‘artist published’ a debut poetry chapbook. I did everything - writing, design, layout, hand binding / making the physical book - and it’s been such a rewarding experience. Thank you for your words & also for inviting readers to share their work in the comments!

I'm always late to the party because I save these to savor. Insightful and delightful as always.

"Just find what you know to be true, interesting, important, useful, " a balm. Truly.

This is reminding me why I like making things!

I've been thinking about the way others publishing my work feels legitimizing, but now I'm thinking of all the fun weird things I get to do when *I* am the legitimizer.

Most recently, I made an illustrated newspaper. It's a spinoff from my email newsletter, and a really satisfying project to take from sketches to print. (You can take a look here, if you'd like: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1620524748/ten-times-2023-newspaper)

I LOVE the distinction you're making between different self-publishing and artist publishing.

What a great list of things to think about. You make it seem so approachable. Here are some zines I've made recently > https://open.substack.com/pub/mitchellvolk/p/people-press?r=ujas3&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
