As part of the public programming for Seattle Art Book Fair, we’re co-organizing (with Alex Barsky of Zine Hug and Elizabeth Case) the Climate Emergency Reading Room and Community Altar.
🌈 You’re invited to participate! You can participate if you’re attending in person in Seattle, or from anywhere in the world by suggesting publications — read on… 🌈
The reading room will include books, zines, and other publications that are climate- and earth-related – including local issues, renewable energy and solarpunk, political organizing, grief, taking action, resource sharing, artist-publishing, and community.
At the community altar, we are offering thanks to our planet and the abundant resources it provides. We’re inviting fair attendees to bring objects (flowers, fruits, nuts, leaves, branches, and other local flora, rocks, shells, feathers, etc) that represent gratitude to the natural world.
Here’s how you can participate:
Add a publication you’ve made to the reading room – either on loan just for the fair, or donate or suggest that we buy it*.
Suggest a climate related publication from another publisher that’s meant a lot to you for us to buy*
Bring an object to add to the community altar
*We have some funding to buy publications to add to the reading room for its future traveling exhibitions.
Please fill out this form to participate, or email us directly at climate@anemone.studio with ideas or questions!
Thank you! And for anyone attending Seattle Art Book Fair — see you in May!
If you know anyone who might be interested, help us spread the word! Forward them this post, or you can share this link: https://anemone.studio/climate-emergency-reading-room
